My Diapering journey so far

Every mum has its own personal choice when it comes to diapering. Whether to choose cloth diapers or disposable ones. The day I came to know that I am going to be mother of twins that's when I decided that I don't want to waste my time and energy washing and changing them (Langot).

I had a c-section and was on recovery phase after giving birth to my twin boys. During those days my mum and my mother in law took the charge of the boys and they were very much ok with using traditional cloth diapers. My mother had already made few of them before the kids were born. I let them take the charge and let them decide what's best for the babies.

My babies were born in winter so you could imagine the amount of wetting. And with two of them we always use to run out of our stock of clothes at the end of the day. That was the time I decided to introduce disposable ones for my kids atleast during nights so that we all could have some sound sleep and even my kids can also sleep peacefully.

This routine continued for few months I.e cloth diapers during the day and disposable ones during the night. We were having the benefit of best of both worlds.

I live in bangalore where the climate is quite cool so I never faced any problem of diaper rash untill then. I use to take good care of their sensitive areas, would always clean it properly and apply a good layer of diaper rash cream before every change.

When they were 6 months old I went to my mums place during summers that's when my kids got there first worst diaper rash which made wearing disposable diapers impossible for quite a few days.

PS : Till than I was not aware of the modern day diapering.

That's when I started searching for options which would suit my kids, not cause any more rash and would keep them dry as well.

My masi introduced me to cloth diapers which she used for her kids when they were young and sent me a pack of big white clothes (khus).

These were a life saver for me. They actually soaked one entire pee and kept my kids dry at the same time. Yeh my work almost doubled. As I have to keep changing them and wash them at the end of the day. I have two kids so you guys can imagine the time I spend changing them and washing them.. Phew!!!! (I still do follow the same routine). But I am happy atleast my kids don't have to suffer from any more diaper rash.

Till now I am using these cloth diapers. My kids are 11 months old and we both are happy with this diaper routine.

With time passing even this cloth diapers have started having their own limitations. Recently one of my kid is facing the worst diaper rash problem cause I am still using the disposable ones at night. It's the need of the hour that I switch to modern day cloth diapers. I am still a bit skeptical about them cause I have invested in few of them and a bit disappointed with the results.

Hope I find the perfect cloth diapers for my kids and can ditch the disposable ones for their night time routine.

This is my diapering journey so far for my twin kids. Hope you found it interesting to read. Feel free to let me know what u feel.

Till than stay blessed.

Diaper Bag Essentials

A diaper bag is a must have for every mum. We women tend to carry our entire world in our bag. I like to carry anything and everything with me that makes a over packer lol cause you never know suddenly you need something. I do the same when it comes to packing my diaper bag. I pack all those small things which I think my baby would need it. Looking at the stuff I carry I think I will soon end up carrying a suitcase with me lol 😂. From my experience of 11 months of motherhood and after lots of trial and errors I have made a list of few must haves that every mom needs while stepping out of the house with their little one.

A diaper bag keeps you sorted while you are out and about with ur bundle of joy. There are gazillion options available in the market for a good diaper bag. Personally i have never invested in a diaper bag till date. I like to carry my big (huge) purses or backpacks as they are very much convenient and easy for me to carry around. I am a hoarder of bags so I never thought of investing in a diaper bags yet. Is there anyone who is like me and carry everything in their purses??

Here is a list of few must haves in your diaper bag.

▪Food (formula/solid food)
▪Hot water flask
▪Feeding bottle
▪Sipper
▪One or two pair of clothes
▪Pair of socks
▪Extra diapers
▪Wet wipes
▪Diaper rash cream

▪Mosquito repellent
▪Burp cloth (if your baby is still nursing)
▪Hand towels
▪Disposable bags (to dispose soiled diapers)
▪Tissues

Review : Mama earth natural insect repellent

Living in a place where it rains almost every day the most common problem that I faced was of mosquitos. During the day it is hot and as soon as it's evening, it starts to rain due to which the problem of mosquitoes increases. Every second day I use to hear a case of viral fever from our locality. I was very much worried about my kid's health. Using coils was not suitable as my kids are too small to be exposed to such smoke and smell that comes with it.

I researched a lot in finding a good mosquito repellent, especially for infants/kids cause I didn't want so many chemicals to be applied on their skin. I came across many brands and tried few of them as well but the only problem I had was the overpowering smell that they had.

Then finally one day I came to know about mama earth products and found a mosquito repellent which was specially made for infants and it claimed to be chemical and deet free. Without even giving a second thought I ordered it online from Amazon and voila it reached me  the very next day (thanx to amazon's prime delivery)
About the product :

The company claims it to be natural and deet free and it has the power of natural essential aromatic oils like citronella, peppermint, and lemongrass. It keeps babies safe and free from mosquito bites.

KEY INGREDIENTS
Purified water, cold pressed Soya Ben oil, cold pressed castor oil, citronella essential oil, cedar essential oil, lemongrass essential oil, rosemary essential oil and peppermint essential oil.

My verdict :

I have been using this product for past 1.5 months for my twins and I am more than half the way through the can. The packing is up to the mark. It comes in a spray bottle which makes it more convenient to use. It is an oil based product thus it can be evenly applied. The only problem that I faced as a first time user was nothing was mentioned in the bottle how to use it. It needs to be applied to clothes like other repellents or directly on the skin of the little one. The mistake I did was, I sprayed it in their clothes due to which I think it did not perform as much as it should and I was unable to see the results. Then started using it directly on the skin. Though being oil based it never stained the clothes which I liked.

My kids are still 10 months old and they tend to put their hand In their mouth a lot. Because this product is chemical free and deet free I am not worried that it would harm my child if it goes into their mouth. (though I never apply it on their palms to be in the safer side)

PROS:

A. It's made of natural essential oils which makes it chemical free and suitable for my infants
B. Mild smell that fades ways in half an hour or so.
C. Travel-friendly packaging (spray bottle).
D. Little goes a long way.

CONS:

A. No proper instructions available on the packaging on how to use which can confuse the 1st time user.
B. The effect remains only for 2 to 3 hour after which it needs to be reapplied.
C. Pricey. Rs 299  for 100 ml of product. (this is way more as compared to its competitors)
D. Physical availability. This product is not found anywhere in the stores it needs to be bought online. (though it's not a con for me cause I buy everything online these days)

Would I recommend??
Yes, I would recommend this product just because it's chemical and deet free and the smell is not too overpowering Compared to other brands.

That's all from my side. Hope you found it useful.
Till then stay blessed.

I did my MBA in Finance and then started my carrier has a faculty in a BBA College. So after getting into academics my love for studies increased and so I decided to study even more further and did my Masters in Commerce (M.Com). (There is a big story behind this if anyone interested do let me know I can share it in another blog post or a short story on my instagram). Still my hunger for studying further was not satisfied and I dreamt of getting into IIM’s for a new short duration course in teaching. With God’s grace I even succeeded in it and did my FDPM (Faculty development program) from none other than IIM – Ahmedabad. Yes it was a dream comes true for me.

Just after completing my FDP I got married to the man of my dreams and shifted to Bangalore and started my life here. Before I could even start my carrier here I became prego and now I am a full time mommy to these two cute boys.
